How do I clear my web browser's cache?

In my entire life as 'IT Support Personal' the most common Question people asked me is 'How do I clear my web browser's cache?'. Yes this is true. People use different types of browser to surf Internet. And most common feature of browser is to store a copy of visited website on computer's Hard Disk.

Each time anyone access Internet, Website or a file through web browser, the browser caches (stores a copy of visited site) it. In this way, the files (including any images on the page) do not have to be retrieved anew from the remote web site each time click the Back or Forward buttons.

There is a lot of advantage and disadvantage of this behavior of browsers. On this article, I am not going to describe them. This article will only cover the way of clearing the cache of browsers.

Now a day's people use a lot of different web browser from different provider, which has their own way to clear the 'Cache File'. I have a wish to write an article with step by step screen shot to clear web cache. Now bellow you will find the way of clearing cache (browser's cache) only in text description:

Clearing Browser Cache of Internet Explorer 7 running on Windows:
1. Open Internet Explorer 7
2. Click on 'Tools' menu
3. Select 'Internet Options...'
4. Choose the 'General' Tab
5. Under Browsing history, click 'Delete...'
6. After that look for "Temporary Internet Files" option, Click 'Delete Files...'
7. Click 'Close' then click 'Ok' to exit.

Your Internet Explorer 7 is now have no cache or history of your browsing saved in Computer!

Clearing Browser Cache of different version of Internet Explorer (Internet Explorer 4.x, 5.x, and 6.x) running on Windows:
1. Open Your Internet Explorer
2. Click on 'Tools' Menu (For Version 4.x or lower, Click 'View' Menu)
3. Select 'Internet Options...'
4. Choose the 'General' Tab
5. In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click 'Delete Files...' .
6. Confirm the clear cache by clicking 'OK'
7. In Internet Options dialog box, click 'OK'.

Your Internet Explorer is now have no cache or history of your browsing saved in Computer Hard Disk.

Clearing Browser Cache of Netscape 8 running on Windows:
1. Open Your Netscape 8 Browser.
2. From the 'Tools' menu, Select Options....
3. Click 'Privacy'
4. Next to 'Cache', Click the 'Clear' button
5. For advance usages of 'Browser Cache', click on + (Plus Sign) and Choose your options.
6. Click Ok to Exit from Options...

Your Netscape 8 is now have no cache of your browsing saved on Computer Hard Disk!

Clearing Browser Cache of Netscape 7.1 running on Windows:
1. Open your Netscape 7.1 Browser
2. Click on the 'Edit' menu
3. Select 'Preferences...' .
4. In the left panel of the Preferences dialog box, Click the '+' (plus sign) in the box to the left of 'Advanced'.
5. Click 'Cache'.
6. Click 'Clear Cache'
7. In 'Preferences dialog box' click 'OK' to exit.

Your Netscape 7.1 is now have no cache of your browsing saved on Computer Hard Disk!

Clearing Browser Cache of Firefox 2.0 running on Windows:
1. Clearing Cache of Firefox 2.0 is very easy. Just Click on 'Clear Private Data' from the 'Tools' menu of Firefox 2.0.
2. Choose which data you want to clear, for files saved on Hard Disk Choose 'Cache'.
3. Click 'OK' to clear your browser cache!

Your Firefox 2.0 is now free from any cache of your Internet Browsing.

Clearing Browser Cache of Firefox 1.0 or 1.5 running on Windows:
1. Open your Firefox Browser.
2. Click on 'Tools' Menu
3. Select 'Options...' .
4. Select 'Privacy...'
5. If it is Firefox version 1.5, Select the 'Cache' Tab and Click on 'Clear Cache Now' button. If it is Firefox version 1.0, Next to 'Cache' Click the 'Clear' button.
6. Click 'OK' to Close the 'Options...' dialog box.

Your Firefox is now have no cache saved on Hard Disk of your Internet Browsing.


Clearing Browser Cache of Safari Browser running on Mac OS and Mac OS X

1. From the Safari menu, select Empty Cache... .
2. When prompted, click Empty to confirm that you want to empty the cache.

Clearing Browser Cache of Firefox 1.x and 2.0 running on Mac OS and Mac OS X:

1. From the Firefox menu, select Preferences... .
2. From the sheet that drops down, select 'Privacy'. In 2.0, click 'Clear Now'. In 1.5, click 'Clear Cache Now'. In 1.0, next to 'Cache', click the 'Clear' button, and then OK.

Your Firefox running on Mac OS or MAC OS X 'cache' is empty.

Clearing Browser Cache of Netscape 6.x or later running on Mac OS and Mac OS X:

1. In Mac OS X, from the Netscape or Mozilla menu, select Preferences... . In Mac OS 9.x or earlier, from the Edit menu, select Preferences... .
2. In the left panel of the Preferences dialog box, click the arrow to the left of Advanced. Click Cache.
3. Either click the Clear Cache button, or click both the Clear Memory Cache and Clear Disk Cache buttons.
4. In the 'Preferences' dialog box, click 'OK'.
