Email I Received Today Regarding Mobile Phone Security

Today morning I receive the following email from a email address of 'GrameenPhone'. I don't know the sender personally. As I don't know the sender, but the sender domain is from GrameenPhone (@grameenphone.com), I just got curious. I went through the email from 1st to last. I am really shocked! The sender used his official email address to send this type of USELESS, BOGUS EMAIL to people!

First of All, The information sender want to let everyone know is totally BOGUS. This is technically IMPOSSIBLE to erase IMEI and IMSI number remotely from a device. This staff of 'GrameenPhone' don't know any TECHNICAL issue related to GSM and Mobile Phone Technology at all. The line he used "This information has been confirmed by both Motorola and Nokia" This is TOTALLY BOGUS. He used reference of Nokia and Motorola, but don't give any URL or any HINTS that reflect the opinion on such issue.

Secondly he request recipient to forward the messages to everyone as possible. This type of information normally send by such user who has a motto behind it. Average people normally believe such information, and forward the email to all on his contact list. This has 2 type of problem. Average user add his contact's email address at CC field, mean all recipient will receive an email with lot of VALID email address on CC field of email. If the recipient of forward the email to his contact, Email body will contain the previous recipient's email address. As long as people forward the email to his contact, the email size and number of email body will contain more and more VALID email address.

Now if 10th or 12th user's PC is infected with virus, which scan HDD of infected PC, Collect the Email address and start sending email with virus attachment! Just imagine the effect!

So, If you receive this type of email, don't believe it first. If you really interested to find what's going one, do a Google Search. You will find the information how this type of email effect your time, resource and money. Also the resource of Internet....

Think before hit the 'Forward' Button of your Email Client

Thanks for your Time. Your valuable comments on this issues will Encourage me to research more!

Subject: Cell phone matter.
Importance: High

Dear All,

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that, he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press # 90 or #09 or any other number.
End this call immediately without pressing any numbers. There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your 'SIM' card and make calls at your expense. Forward this message to as many friends as you can, to stop it.

All mobile users pay attention if you receive a phone call and your mobile phone displays (XALAN) on the screen don't answer the call, END THE CALL IMMEDIATELY, if you answer the call, your phone will be infected by a virus...

This virus will erase all IMEI and IMSI information from both your phone and your SIM card, which will make your phone unable to connect with the telephone network. You will have to buy a new phone. This information has been confirmed by both Motorola and Nokia. There are over 3 Million mobile phones being infected by this virus in all around the world now.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS INFORMATION TO ALL YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS HAVING A MOBILE.
